Kythe

Independent Software Studio

We make personal software for the things that matter built quietly, paced carefully, and made to respect the person on the other side of the screen.

Kythe is based in Atlanta, Georgia. We work on one product at a time, and we don't take outside investment. That means we can move at our own pace and answer to the people who use our software, instead of to growth metrics or quarterly targets. It's a deliberately small operation — and we like it that way.

Philosophy

What we believe in

01

Quiet by default

We design software that doesn't beg for attention, gamify your habits, or guilt you into engagement. The best tools do their job and step back.

02

Restraint over reach

We'd rather build a small thing that's actually good than a sprawling thing that almost works. We ship when something is ready, not when a calendar tells us to.

03

Your data is yours

We collect the minimum we need, store it carefully, and never sell it. Personal data — especially the kind that lives close to your body or your health — deserves respect, not extraction.

04

Honest about limits

We're not trying to do everything, and we're skeptical of software that claims to. The best apps know what they are, what they aren't, and where the user's life takes over.
